Art Deco artist and wealthy bohemian Tamara de Lempicka represented the height of glamour in Jazz Age Paris. She was reputed to have had a very large hat collection that appears frequently in her paintings. I don’t know if she was a knitter, but I am sure she would have appreciated this hat (or headband!) that bears her name!
Lempicka features a large shell appliqué knit in two pieces that starts from mysterious beginnings only to take shape under your needles. The headband or fitted beanie is knitted separately and the shell is mounted to stand up from the piece. Wear it with the shell faced sideways or face it to the front for a bold look. You will want to bob cut your hair and dance all night!
Lempicka’s dramatic style will get you noticed as you channel the spirit of a famous flapper!
