Brass Tacks Mitts

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download!

Let’s get down to Brass Tacks! These basic mittens/ fingerless mitts are a staple in your knitting repertoire! They are designed for the whole family and are ideal for charity knitting or the perfect quick gift. Three sizes will fit anyone you know and love! This pattern gives directions for using the magic loop method to work a small circumference using a long circular needle. I originally designed these mitts to teach the technique and invite other teachers to use it for the same purpose.

Materials:
150 yards worsted weight yarn, such as Cascade 220
4mm(US6) 80cm circular needle of good quality for magic loop method. Look for a flexible cable, smooth joins, tip in your preferred material such as nickel-plated or bamboo.
Stitch markers
wool needle (for weaving in ends)

Sizes: Actual measurement of hand circumference above thumb.
Small, (Medium, Large)
6.5 inches ( 7.25 inches , 8.25 inches)

Skills Used: Knitting in the round, magic loop, paired increases (left and right)

Gauge:
22sts= 4” in Stockinette Stitch using 4mm needle or needle size to obtain gauge. Gauge is important for this project.
